Weathering breakdown of rocks on Earth's surface
Erosion transporting Earth's materials from one place to another
Frost wedging break down of rock due to alternates of freezing and melting in cracks.
Exfoliation the outer layer of rocks are stripped away
Mechanical weathering physical breaking of rock which does not change the rock's composition only the size and shape
Hydrolysis break down of rick by water dissolving the minerals
Oxidation break down of rock by oxygen reacting with the minerals
Deposition when sediments are laid down in another place
Rill Erosion looks like small channels on the side of a slope caused from running water
Gully Erosion larger channels of water caused from running water
Soil Profile a vertical sequence of soil layers
Soil Horizon a distinct layer or zone in the soil profile
Chemical Weathering rocks and minerals undergo change in their chemical composition
Soil loose covering of broken rock particles and decaying organic matter
Residual Soil soil that comes from the parent material at that location
Transported Soil soil that was moved from another place through erosion
