cell theory all living things are made of cells, the cell is the basis unit of life, all cells come from a pre-existing cells
main differences between plant and animal cells Plants have cell walls for structure, chloroplasts (organelles that contain chlorophyll which allows the plant cells to perform photosynthesis), and large vacuoles (used to store water, nutrients and waste as a result of photosynthesis)
diffusion random movement of materials from high to low concentration. important in cells, cells don't have mouths but pores in the cell membrane. If the cell needs certain materials inside (low concentration), those materials may diffuse into cell from outside (hi
osmosis Is specifically water diffusion. This can happen as a result of an unequal concentration of solute on either side of the membrane, where the membrane restricts the flow of materials, but allows water to pass through.
