Bio Cell Organelles

Different parts of animal and plants cells

TermDefinition
Cell Membrane Controls what goes in and out of the cell
Mitochondria Produces energy, is usually red
Cytoplasm Jelly substance inside of the cell
Vacuole Storage for things (plant are larger than animal)
Chloroplast It is green and helps with photosynthesis (makes food for plants)
Nucleus Control center of the cell and has DNA
Nucleolus Makes ribosomes
Lysosomes Digests waste and self-destructs
Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) System of pathways used to transport things through the cell (smooth ER has no ribosomes and rough ER has ribosomes)
Cell Wall Strong and protective layer around the cell (Plant cells only)
Nuclear Membrane Barrier separating the Nucleus from the Cytoplasm; controls what goes in and out of the Nucleus
Ribosomes Found throughout the cell; make proteins
Golgi Body Sorts and packages materials to be sent to different places in the cell
