Earth's Layers

TermDefinition
Crust the thin, solid outermost layer of the Earth
Mantle the soft layer between the crust and core
Core the center of the Earth
Inner Core Extremely hot solid center; although hot, it isn't melted because pressure from the above layers causes this layer to be solid
Outer Core the liquid layer that surrounds the solid inner core; it is liquid because it does not have as much pressure on it
Which is the thinnest layer? Crust
What is the thickest, most massive layer? Mantle
2 Layers made of metal?(iron and nickel) Inner and Outer Cores
Lithosphere solid, broken layer, divided into plates
Asthenosphere soft, semisolid layer found under the lithosphere
