Hiragana meanings

The first step to learning Japanese

あ pronounced like the A in "car"
い Is an I but is pronounced like the E in "eel"
う U but is pronounced like the ou in "you"
え E pronounced like the E in "Egg"
お O pronounced like your saying "Oh"
か The K sound plus あ making a K A sound or a "ca"
き The K sound plus い which makes the sound "key"/ K I
く The K sound plus う making a " ku " sound
け The K sound plus え making a "ke" sound.
こ The K sound plus お making a "ko" sound.
