Hypothesis An educated guess based on our observations
Experiment An experiment is carried out to test a hypothesis

Conclusion Is your hypothesis supported by the experiment

Principle of experimentation 1 Careful planning and design - test only 1 variable at a time
Principle of experimentation 2 Safety - tie long hair back, wear goggles, have a clear workspace
Principle of experimentation 3 Always use a 'control group'
Principle of experimentation 4 The experiment has to be fair -Large sample size -Random selection -Must be able to be replicated
Principle of experimentation 5 Double blind testing -Both the investigator and the participant are unaware of the nature of the treatment
Placebo A substance that contains no active drug
