Geometry for Drafting

TermDefinition
bisect Divide into two equal parts.
circumscribe Create a polygon that fully encloses a circle that is tangent to all of the polygon's sides.
ellipse A regular oval that has two equal center points.
geometric construction An illustration made of individual lines and points drawn in proper relationship to one another.
geometry The study of size and shape of things.
inscribe Create a polygon fully enclosed by a circle that is tangent to all of the polygon's sides.
object snap Feature in AutoCAD that allows you to jump automatically to special points such as the endpoint or midpoint of a line or arc.
parallel Two or more lines that are always the same distance apart.
perpendicular At a 90 degree angle.
polygon A closed figure.
regular polygon A closed figure in which all of the sides and angles are of equal measure.
vertex The point at which the two arms of an angle meet.
