| Organelle | Parts to a cell -- Ex. nucleus, mitochondria |
| Organization | Fitting together -- Ex. organelle -->cell -->tissue |
| Cell | Most basic unit of life |
| Metabolism | Breaking down molecules (food) -- Ex. using/creating energy |
| Autotroph | Create your own energy/food -- Ex. plants |
| Herterotroph | Obtain your energy/food elsewhere -- Ex. animals |
| Reproduction | To produce a new individual of the same kind |
| Diversity | Variation -- Ex. butterflies |
| Sexual Reproduction | Requires sperm + egg gametes -- requires TWO |
| Asexual Reproduction | Think cloning -- requires ONE |
| DNA | Genetic material that creates you |
| Embryo | Stage of development before a fetus and after a zygote |
| Stimulus | The action that prompts the response -- Ex. bright sun |
| Response | The reaction in response to the stimulus -- Ex. squinting eyes |
| Homeostasis | Regulation of internal body processes -- Ex. internal body temp, pupil regulation, blood sugar levels, salt concentration |
| Regulate | To control or maintain consistently |
| Equilibrium | To be balanced -- or EQUAL |
| Adaptation | A modification to a living thing -- Ex. Wings on a bird |
| Evolution | Change through time |
