transport in animals

TermDefinition
Right Atrium one of the four chambers of the heart. it takes in de-oxygenated blood from the Vena-Cava
Left Atrium the left atrium is one of the four chambers of the heart and it has oxygenated blood coming in from the, pulmonary vein
Right Ventricle the right ventricle has de-oxygenated blood which it takes from the right atrium, via the tri-cuspid valve!
Left ventricle has oxygenated blood from the left atrium via the bi-cuspid valve!
Pulmonary vein! the vein that picks up de-oxygenated blood from the heart and takes it to the lungs
Pulmonary Artery the pulmonary artery takes blood to the heart from the lungs
Aorta the main artery that takes the now oxygenated blood out to the body!
Vena cava (superior or inferior) the vena cava is the main vein that brings in, blood to to the heart from the body!
Septum the wall of the heart between the two sections
Coronary arteries the arteries that supply the heart with blood
Coronary veins the veins that take the blood used by the heart into the heart for oxygen!
Artery huge blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart with some exceptions of course, the arteries have thick elastic walls, no valves and a small lumen!
Vein the veins are the next in blood vessels, they have thinner walls than arteries, and a wider lumen and valves to prevent back flow
Capillaries the smallest blood vessels which actually deliver blood to every part of the body!
