Science Vocabulary Words

Thermometer Measures Temperature Unit of measurement: Celsius (*C) or Fahrenheit (*F)
Balance Measures Mass, the amount of matter in something Unit of measurement: (kilograms (kg), grams (g) & milligrams (mg)
Graduated Cylinder Measures volume Unit of measurement: Liters (l) and Milliliters (ml)
Stopwatch Measures elapsed time Unit of measurement: minutes (min) & seconds (sec)
Ruler/Measuring Tape Measures length Unit of measurement: meters (m), centimeters (cm) and millimeters (mm)
Spring Scale Measure the amount of force needed to move an object Unit of measurement: Newtons (N)
Hand Lens Used to make something appear larger; helps you see details
Microscope Used to see things that are microscopic, or too small to see with your eyes
Camera Takes photographs and videos; used for observations and tracking changes
Collecting Net A net connected to a pole; used to gently catch animals
Aquarium A transparent enclosure with water; used as a habitat for aquatic animals
Terrarium A transparent enclosure with plants; used as a habitat for terrestrial (land) animals
