Atmosphere
| Term | Definition |

| Atmosphere | The blanket of gases on the surface of the earth, comprised of varying gases, temperatures, and air pressure. Separated into 4 layers. |
| Water Cycle | Rotation that constantly replenishes the most important natural resource needed for all living things to exist: water. |
| Evaporation | Sun heats up water in rivers, lakes, or oceans and turns it into water vapor. |
| Condensation | Water vapor in the air gets cool enough to change back into a liquid, forming clouds. |
| Precipitation | Occurs when so much water has condensed and gets too heavy and falls back to earth in many forms. |
| Run off | Excess water on land, plants, or animals that “runs off” and fills lakes, rivers, oceans, etc |
| Stewardship | The protection of the natural environment through preservation and conservation. |
| Ozone Layer | Located in the stratosphere and is a region of the earth’s atmosphere that absorbs the sun’s ultraviolet light. |
| Water vapor | When water is heated and forms a gas |
