Atmosphere

TermDefinition
Atmosphere The blanket of gases on the surface of the earth, comprised of varying gases, temperatures, and air pressure. Separated into 4 layers.
Water Cycle Rotation that constantly replenishes the most important natural resource needed for all living things to exist: water.
Evaporation Sun heats up water in rivers, lakes, or oceans and turns it into water vapor.
Condensation Water vapor in the air gets cool enough to change back into a liquid, forming clouds.
Precipitation Occurs when so much water has condensed and gets too heavy and falls back to earth in many forms.
Run off Excess water on land, plants, or animals that “runs off” and fills lakes, rivers, oceans, etc
Stewardship The protection of the natural environment through preservation and conservation.
Ozone Layer Located in the stratosphere and is a region of the earth’s atmosphere that absorbs the sun’s ultraviolet light.
Water vapor When water is heated and forms a gas
