Proximal Close to point of reference

Atlas The vertebrae at the base of the skull

Orbit Pertaining to sight

Foramen A tiny opening in the bone
Condyles A rounded process that articulates
Facet A smooth surface that articulates
Neural Canal A tube formed by vertebral canals
Sternebrae Segments of backbone
Axial Skeleton A section of the skeleton containing the skull, mandible, vertebral column, ribs and sternum
False ribs The 4 posterior ribs (do not articulate)
Floating rib The last rib
Fossa Depression or pit
Process Projection from a bone

Manubrium The most anterior sternebra
Appendicular Skeleton A section of the skeleton consisting of the pectoral girdle, forelimbs, pelvic girdle, and hind limbs
True Ribs The first 9 ribs

Scrotum A sac containing the testes
Urogenital Aperture The opening of the female urogenital tract
Prepuce A slight swelling into which the penis can be retracted
Tori The thick pads on the bottom of the foot
Philtrum The groove that separates the nares
Pinnae The pointed structures around the ears which are used in hearing
External Nares The nostrils
Nicitating Membrane The third eyelid
Vibrissae The whiskers
