Fundamentals of Engineering Textbook Chapter 6: Communicating Solutions
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Assembly drawing | Show how different parts fit together to create the entire object. |
| Detail Drawing | Engineers use this to show the exact shape and size of an object. |
| Dimensioning | This is a process used to describe the size of the object as well as the location of different features of the design. |
| Engineering Drawing | These are created to communicate products that will be manufactured. |
| Leader | This is a line with an arrow on the end pointing to the feature. |
| Location Dimension | These are used to show the distance between two different features. |
| Oblique Drawing | Like isometric drawings, are drawn in three dimensions, but instead of using a determined angle at the front of the image, the drawing features one side of the object as the front image. |
| Perspective drawing | These are used to show an object from a specific point of view. |
| Schematic drawing | These are used to show how different parts are connected together to form a system. |
| Shape dimension | Used to provide detailed information about the shape of features. |
| Size dimension | Used to describe the length, width, and depth of an object. |
| Visualization | This is the ability to mentally see a representation of a product for which there is no physical object. |
| Working drawing | These are engineering drawings that are the most complete drawings produced. |
