Sound

QuestionAnswer
What is Sound? Energy created and moved by vibrating matter.
How does Sound travel? Matter vibrates and carries the sound as compression waves.
Why can Sound only travel through matter? It's because the molecules of matter vibrate in the direction the sound wave is traveling and moves it along.
What are Compressions? Compressions are when molecules are pressed together.
What are Rarefactions? Rarefactions are when molecules are spread apart.
What is the frequency of a Sound Wave? The number of wavelengths in a period of time.
What is the wave length of a Sound Wave? It is the distance between two compressions or rarefactions.
