Space

TermDefinition
Astronaut A person trained by a human spaceflight program to command, pilot, or serve as a crew member of a spacecraft.
Cosmonaut The name for a Russian Astronaut.
Satellite- Natural An object that orbits another star. The moon is an example of a natural satellite.
Satellite- man made An object that orbits another star. In space, satellites may be made by man.
Propellant A force or substance that drives something else forward. Space rockets use solid or liquid propellants, or fuel.
Rockets Designed to travel through space or to launch a spacecraft.
Space Probe A vehicle, such as a satellite, equipped to obtain scientific information, normally transmitted back to earth by radio.
Space Shuttle A rocket-launched spacecraft, able to land like an unpowered aircraft, used to make repeated journeys between the earth and earth orbit.
International Space Station A large spacecraft in orbit around Earth. It serves as a home where crews of astronauts and cosmonauts live.
Life support systems Provides or controls atmospheric pressure, fire detection and suppression, oxygen levels, waste management and water supply.
