Web Development in Digital Marketing

Web development Process of using web designs to build fully functioning, interactive websites
Web design Process of creating the visual aspects and user experience for browsers and mobile phone apps, tablets, screen readers, and other connected devices
Responsive design Web design approach that enables pages to render on a variety of devices and window or screen sizes
User-centered design Iterative design approach that puts user experience at the center of each stage of the design process
Personas Fictional customer whose characteristics (demographics, goals, needs, interests) represent a target market for a website or brand
Prototype Initial release of a product intended to test the concept and functionality
Content management system Software application that helps manage a company's digital assets and content for its website, automating some processes and facilitating updates
Adaptive website A website that detects the screen size of a user's device to load the correct static layout for the screen
Flexible grid An approach to responsive layout design that uses a grid system to help designers arrange and flex content for various screen sizes
Media queries A way to apply different layouts depending on the size of the viewport being used to render the website
Flexible images Web design that allows images to scale up or down with the size of the browser or device or replaces larger images with smaller ones on small devices
Sticky header A fixed navigation menu that remains visible on a web page in the same position (usually the top) as a user scrolls down on the site
User experience (UX) The physical, sensory, emotional, and mental experiences a user has when interacting with a digital tool
User interface (UI) The user-facing part of a tool or platform with which the user interacts
Strategy plane The aspect of web design that focuses on the needs of users and the business
Structure plane The aspect of web design that defines the patterns and sequences of the user experience
Skeleton plane The aspect of web design that considers navigation, interface, and information design
Surface plane The aspect of web design that attends to the sensory experience of the user
E-commerce Buying or selling products or online services over the internet
Social commerce Online transactions and purchases through social networking platforms
M-commerce Online transactions and purchases using smartphones and other mobile handheld devices
Microsite Individual web page intended to function as a discrete portion of a website for a limited time frame
