Force and Motion

Force a push or pull that causes an object to move, stop, or change direction
Motion a change in the position of an object
Energy the ability to do work or cause change
Work the movement of an object when a force is applied to it
Kinetic Energy energy due to an object's motion
Potential Energy stored energy due to an object's position
Balanced Force all forces on an object are equal and no movement takes place
Unbalanced Force the forces acting on an object are not equal so movement will take place
Friction force that resists the movement of objects when they touch
Gravity a pulling force between objects of mass
Scale a tool that measures the force on an object
Magnetism an attraction force of magnets
Mechanical Energy the total potential and kinetic energy of an object due to position or motion
