Water Cycle | The natural sequence through which water passes into the atmosphere as water vapor, precipitates to earth in liquid or solid form, and ultimately returns to the atmosphere through evaporation |
Anticyclones | A circulation of winds around of high atmospheric pressure, clockwise in the Northern Hemispheric, counterclockwise in the Southern Hemisphere |
Coriolis Effect | the effect the rotation of Earth has on any free-moving objects. |
Tornadoes | Rotating winds in the shape of a funnel cloud beneath a large storm system |
Lightning | the occurrence of a natural electrical discharge of very short duration and high voltage between a cloud and the ground or within a cloud, accompanied by a bright flash and typically also thunder. |
Thunderstorm | a storm with thunder and lightning and typically also heavy rain or hail. |
Cyclones | Winds rotating inward to an area with low atmospheric pressure |
Isotherm | A line on a map connecting points having the same temperature |
Isobar | A line on a map connecting points having the same atmospheric pressure |
Front | The boundary between two air masses that have different temperatures or humidity |
Warm Front | Front formed when warm air mass slides up and over a cold air mass. |
Cold Front | Front formed when cold air advances, forcing the warm air upward |
Stationary Front | Front formed when a cold air mass and a warm air mass meet and neither move |
Occluded Front | Front formed when you have warm front stuck in between two cold fronts |
Air Mass | A body of air with uniform temperature, humidity, and pressure |
Barometer | A tool to measure atmospheric pressure |
