| simile | when describing a comparison between two fundamentally different things |
| metaphor | a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. |
| idiom | is a form of expression that is particular to a certain person |
| rhetorical question | a question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer. |
| convey | make (an idea, impression, or feeling) known or understandable to someone |
| authors veiwpoint | is the way an author looks at a topic or the ideas being described. |
| mood | a temporary state of mind or feeling. |
| tone | a modulation of the voice expressing a particular feeling or mood. |
