TermDefinition
cell wall gives the cell strength and stiffness. This helps the cell keep its shape.
vacuoles Used for storage, vacuoles usually contain water or food. (Are you are thirsty? Perhaps your vacuoles need some water!)
cytoplasm fills the space inside the cell membrane/ fills most space
chromosomes contain the information that the cell uses for growth and activities. In plant and animal cells, the chromosomes are inside the nucleus.
mitochondria make energy out of food/break down sugar to release energy that the cell can use.
cell membrane to control which substances leave and enter the cell
nucleus directs cell activities. It does this by sending instructions to different parts of the cell.
chloroplasts use water, carbon dioxide, and energy from sunlight to make sugar. This sugar is the plant cell's food.
