STUDY THE FUNCTIONS OF THE PARTS OF THE PLANTS

QuestionAnswer
ROOTS They hold the plant in the ground and absorb the water and the nutrients from the soil
STEM It joins the roots and the leaves. It holds up the plant
TRUNK It joins the roots and the leaves. It holds up the tree. It is thicker than the stem
LEAVES They use sunlight to make food from for the plant. It has stomatas. Photosynthesis takes place in it
SEED They are in the fruit. Thankful them, we have a new plant
FLOWERS They have different colours. They turn into fruits. They attract the insefcts to the pollination
PHOTOSYNTHESIS It is a process in which plants make their own food. They transform the carbon dioxide in oxygen
STOMATA Small pores in the leaves. They absorb minerals, water and carbon dioxide
RAW SAP It is the mix of nutrients and water. It travels up the stem to the leaves.
STAMENS They are the male reproductive organs. They have two parts: the ANTHER (contains the pollen) and the FILAMENTS
ELABORATED SAP It is the food the plants need to grow. It is produced by the raw sap and the sunlight. It travels down the stem to other parts of the plant
FRUIT It has seeds inside
PETAL Petals look like brightly coloured leaves. They protect the inner parts of the flower. Petals together form the COROLLA.
SEPAL They are small green leaves. They protect the flower when it is a bud.
PISTIL This is the female reproductive organ. It is like a bottle. It has 3 parts: STIGMA, STYLE and OVARY.
