| fossil | a dead organism that has been preserved on some natural resources |
| metamorphic | rocks that have been made from pressure of other rocks |
| sedimentary | rocks that are formed by other rocks sitting on top of them then coming together. |
| igneous | these are rocks that are formed by lava and magma (molten rock) |
| mold | a mold is a imprint of something that doesn't stick out. |
| cast | is a copy of a mold that sticks out. |
| paleontologist | someone that studies the history of life using the fossil record |
| absolute dating | this is when you know the exact age of something |
| relative dating | when you know how old something is based on something elses age. |
| Law of Uniformitarianism | he assumption that the same natural laws and processes that operate in our present-day scientific observations have always operated in the universe in the past and apply everywhere in the universe. |
| law of superposition | The larger the rock fell to the bottom and the smaller the rock the more it was at the top. |
