Simple Machines

force a push or pull that can change the position of an object
wedge a simple machine, such as a nail or an ax, that changes the angle and direction of force

fulcrum the point of support on which a lever pivots
pulley a simple machine made of a wheel with a grooved rim over which a rope or cable is looped
screw a simple machine that changes a circular force to an up-or-down force
lever a simple machine with a bar that allows heavy objects to be lifted or moved
wheel and axle a simple machine made from a wheel rotating around a fixed point
