Athenosphere the upper layer of the earth's mantle
Subduction the edge of a plate of the earth's crust going under another plate
Sea floor spreading The bottom of a sea or ocean
Mantle convention The movement of heat such as magma through the mantle
Ridge push A divergent boundary
Slab pull The part of the motion of a tectonic plate caused by its subduction
Lava Molten rock outside the volcano
Magma Molten rock inside the volcano
Tectonic plate A plate the moves that causes drifts and creates thing such as mountains and volcanoes
Theory of continental drift The one big continent pangea drifted away from each other and gave us the seven continents we live in today
Convergent boundary Plates the collide together which can make mountains
Divergent boundary Plates that move away from each other that can make a trench
Transform boundary Plates that slide past each other which can make a fault
Hot spot a small area or region with a relatively hot temperature
Epicenter Center of an earthquake
Focus A central point or region
Pangea One big continent before continental drift
Geohazard The state that may lead to widespread damage or risk
Reverse fault two blocks of rock are forced together by compression.
Strike slip fault Plates that move horizontally
Normal fault two blocks of rock are pulled apart by tension
Compression When a wave or plate is compacted together
Tension when a wave or plate is pulled apart
Shearing When a wave or plate slide paste eachother
Felsic Light colored rocks
Mafic Dark colored rocks
