Common Skin Color Variations

TermDefinition
Pallor Pale - anemia, blood loss
Erythema Red - superficial burns, local inflammation, carbon monoxide poisoning
Flushed Pink - fever, hypertension
Ecchymosis Purple - trauma to soft tissue
Cyanosis Blue - low tissue oxygenation
Jaundice Yellow - liver or kidney disease destruction of red blood cells
Tan Brown - Ethnic variation, sun exposure, pregnancy, Addison's disease
