Cold Front

Made by Ethan Hoffman (Mrs. Rocks Favorite)

What is a cold front? The leading edge of a cold air mass.
What is an air mass? A huge body of air with uniform temperature, humidity, and pressure.
What is temperature? A measurement of kinetic energy; how fast particles move.
What is humidity? The amount of water vapor in the air.
What is air pressure? Measurement of the force of air pressing on Earth.
What is convection? Warm air rises because it is light (less dense).
What is evaporation? When liquid water changes to a gas (water vapor)
What is condensation? When water vapor changes to a liquid (clouds)
What is dew point? The temperature at which condensation happens; the air is 100% full (saturated) with water vapor.
What happens at a cold front? It rains and has high humidity.
What happens when a cold air mass hits a warm air mass? The warm air mass rises.
