| Seafloor spreading | he formation of new areas of oceanic crust |
| Mantle convection | liquid rising and sinking |
| Ridge push | plate motion in plate tectonics that occurs at mid-ocean ridges |
| Slab pull | tectonic plate being pulled down |
| Lava | molten rock on the surface |
| Magma | molten rock below the surface |
| Tectonic plate | piece of the earth |
| Theory of continental drift | all the continents were once connected |
| Convergent boundary | plates moving toward to each other |
| Divergent boundary | plates moving away from each other |
| Transform boundary | plates slide past each other |
