| Pericardium | the thin membrane that surrounds the heart |
| Veins | large blood vessels that carry blood from the rest of the body to the heart |
| Capillaries | tiny blood vessel that transports blood vessels and other tissues in the body |
| Arteries | large blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart |
| Oxygenated | supplied, treated, or enriched with oxygen |
| Deoxygenated | to remove oxygen |
| Agglutination | clumping of particles |
| Ventricles | each of the two main chambers of the heart, left and right |
| Atria | A chamber of the heart that receives blood from the veins and forces it by muscular contraction into a ventricle |
| Septum | the cartilage in the nose that separates the nostrils |
| Valves | flap of tissue that prevents blood from flowing backward into a blood vessel or heart chamber |
| Antibodies | proteins produced by B cells that aids in the destruction of pathogens |
| Pulse | palpation of the heartbeat by your fingertips |
| Plasma | liquid part of the cell |
| Platelets | clots blood |
| white blood cells | cell that attacks pathogens |
| red blood cells | cell that carries oxygen gas |
| Vaccine | substance that stimulates an immune response, producing acquired immunity without illness or infection |
| Immunity | defenses to fight infection or disease |
| cancer/leukemia | diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body |
