| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Thermal Energy | The total kinetic energy of tiny particles that make up matter. |
| Conduction | Transfer of thermal energy that occurs in solids, liquids, and gases when two substances of different temperatures touch. |
| Convection | Heat transfer through a fluid to a cooler more dense fluid. |
| Radiation | Transfer of heat energy by movement of electromagnetic waves or subatomic particles, such as air. |
| Heat | Energy transferred between two objects of different temperatures, energy will continue to move in a predictable pattern from warmer to cooler areas until all have reached the same temperature. |
| Conservation of Energy | energy can neither be created nor destroyed |
| Temperature | Average kinetic energy of all particles in a material. |
| Radiant Energy | The energy from the sun is? |
