Primary Assessment

What is primary assessment and how many steps? first element in patient assessment
General Impression (GI) & Chief Complaint impression of patients condition on approach, based on patients environment, CofC, and appearance. CC "Why EMS was called in patients words"
Assessing mental status Alert - orientation to name, orientation to place, orientation to the day or date, (depressed mental status may indicate insufficient O2 reaching brain or Shock, so provide appropriate O2 and consider patient a high priority) V,P,U

Circulation stop major bleeding (exsanguinating)
Determine priority level decision on code 1 or code 3 and that your transporting to the nearest appropriate medical facility
The "Look Test" Patients who: Appear to be lifeless, obvious altered mental state, unusually anxious and is pale+sweaty, obvious trauma to the head chest abdomen or pelvis, specific positions indicate distress
