TermDefinition
An exaggerated immune response to a foreign substance
Blood vessels dilate and cells leak fluid, tissues may swell which can cause respiratory failure
Insects, Food, Plants, Medications (penicillin), Others (dust, chemicals, soaps, makeup, etc.)
Patients with conditions that require multiple surgeries, and health care professionals
Histamine combined with other chemicals, which are released after the patient makes contact with the allergen on the second time
When capillaries become leaky, fluid moves into the tissue and appears as swelling
Hives, another result of released histamines and related substances
