carnivore an animal that eats meat
extinct no longer existing as a species
food web system of overlapping food chains in which the flow of energy branches out in many different directions
omnivore animal that eats smaller animals and plants
paleontologist a scientist who studies fossils
competition occurs when two or more living things need the same resources in order to survive
decomposer organism that breaks down plant and animal waste and remains
