Term | Definition |

Veins | Carry blood back the the heart |
Arteries | Carry blood away from the heart |
Heart | Muscular organ that pumps blood through the circulatory system |
Atrium | Chamber of the heart that receives blood from veins and forces it into ventricle or ventricles |
Ventricle | One of the two large chambers of the heart that collects expel blood received from an atrium |
Aorta | Main artery that carry’s blood away from the heart to the rest of the body |
Capillary | blood vessels that form a network between the arterioles and venules |
Red Blood Cell | contain a protein called hemoglobin, which carries oxygen from the lungs to all parts of the body |
White Blood | are the cells of the immune system that are involved in protecting the body against both infectious disease and foreign invaders |
Hemoglobin | a red protein responsible for transporting oxygen in the blood of vertebrates |
