| endothermic reaction | a reaction that absorbs energy in the form of heat (takes energy IN) |
| exothermic reaction | a reaction that releases energy in the form of heat (lets energy OUT) |
| physical property | a characteristic of a substance that can be observed without changing it into something else |
| chemical property | a characteristic that is observed when a substance interacts with another substance |
| physical change | a change that alters teh form or appearance of a material but does not make the material into another substance |
