Blocking Support between framing members
Cripple Stud Stud above a header
Double Top Plate Double the material on the top plate of a wall system
Header Double support over a window, door or opening frame
Rough Sill Short stud under a window
Top Plate Upper horizontal framing member of a wall
Trimmer Stud Vertical framing member that forms the sides of a rough opening
Jamb The framing around doors and windows
Drying in Weather proofing the exterior of a structure
Furring Strips Narrow wood strips used for framing
Buck Frame placed in a concrete wall for a door or window
Monolithic Concrete that is poured as a single unit with no seams
