|---|---|
| Interphase | First stage of the cell cycle. |
| Replication | Cell makes exact copy of DNA. |
| Heredity | The passing of physical characteristics. |
| Trait | Each specific characteristics. |
| Genetics | The scientific study of heredity. |
| Fertilization | Egg and sperm join together. |
| Purebred | Organisms in the offspring of many generations that have the same form of a trait. |
| Gene | The factors that control a trait. |
| Allele | Different forms of gene. |
| Dominant Allele | The trait that always shows up in the organism when the allele is present. |
| Recessive Allele | Hidden allele when dominant is present. |
| Hybrid | Organisms with two different alleles. |
| Probability | The chance or likely of something happening. |
| Punnet Square | Chart the shows the ways all alleles combine. |
| Phenotype | Two terms that genetics use. |
| Genotype | Two terms that genetics use. |
| Homozygous | Two identical alleles. |
| Heterozygous | Two different alleles. |
| Incomplete Dominant | One allele is only partly there. |
| Condominance | Both alleles in a gene are expressed equally. |
| Multiple Alleles | Three or more possible alleles that determine traits. |
| Polygenic Inheritance | More than one gene effects the trait. |
| Meiosis | The number of chromosomes are reduced by half as sex cells form. |
| Steps of Meiosis 1 | Interphase , Prophase , Metaphase , Anaphase , Telophase , Cell divides , forms two daughter cells. |
| Steps of Meiosis 2 | Two daughter cells divide forming two more cells. |
