WordDefinition
Climate The average weather in a place over a fairly long period of time
Wind The movement of air from areas of high pressure toward areas of lower pressure.
Wind direction The compass point in which the wind is moving
Prevailing Wind The most common wind direction for related latitude of the region.
Coriolis Effect The apparent change in direction of a moving body of water.
Latitude The invisible lines that are going horizontal across the Earth
Equator The invisible line that is going horizontal across the Earth dividing the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern hemisphere.
Ocean Currents The defined area of flow within an ocean capable of moving large amounts of water.
Thermal Energy Energy that can move around other particles and can transform one another to a subject in the form of heat.
Polar Climate Cold, low precipitation
Tropical Climate Hot year round and high precipitation
Highlands Climate Cool year round and precipitation varies
Dry climate Dry year round and very low precipitation
Temperate Marine Climate West coast, summers are drier and warmer, climates can sometimes be warm and wet.
Temperate Continental Climate Only in Northern Hemisphere, subarctic, cold.
