what is an Allele? A specific form of gene that provides instructions for making a particular protein molecule.
What is a chromosome? A long piece of DNA that contains many genes.
What is DNA A type of molecule that genes and chromosomes are made of.
What is a feature? A characteristic that all members of a species have.
What is fertilization? When a male and female reproductive cells combine to create an offspring.
What is function? How something works.
What is a gene? An instruction for making a protein molecule.
What is a gene version ? A specific form of gene that provides instructions for making particular protein molecules .
What is Heterozygous? Having a gene versions that are different.
What is Homozygous? Having gene versions that are the same.
To inherit something is to what? To receive genes from a parent.
Mutation is what? A random change to a gene that sometimes results in a new trait.
What is a nonfunctional protein? A random change to a gene that does not preform its function often because it does not connect to other molecules.
What is a nucleus? The part of the cell where genes are found.
What is an offspring? An organism produced as a result of reproduction.
What is a protein molecule? A type of large molecule that preforms important functions inside organisms.
What is a Ribosome? The part of the cell that built protein molecules based on instruction from genes.
What is sexual reproduction? A process in which 2 parents pass on there genes to create an offspring.
What is structure? The way something is shaped or constructed.
What is a trait? A specific characteristic of an individual organism.
what is variation? Any difference in traits between individual organisms.
