What is the nitrogenous base pairing rules? Purines with pyrimidnes: Adenine with thymine and guanine and cytosine
Why can purines and purine not pair together? If a purine and a purine were to pair together than it would be to wide.
How come a pyramdines and a pyramdine not pair together? If a pyramidine were to pair with a pyrimidine than it would be to wide.
What does the single strand binding protein do? Holds two strands apart so they do not join back together.
Which direction does the DNA have to replicate? 5' to 3'
What is the central dogma of biology? DNA->RNA->proteins

What is mRNA's job? Carry the message from DNA to ribosomes.
How many amino acids are there? 20
What is a siRNA? small interfering RNA's bind to the mRNA and destroys it or block translation.
What is a silent mutation? A mutation the has no observable effect on the product.
What is an operon? Complete packgage of genes necessary for a metabolic pathway along with the regulatory switches to turin it on/off.
What is a promoter? The binding site for RNA polymerase.
What is a homeotic genes? Controls the segmentation of things like your spine.
What is a genetic engineering? Direct manipulation of genes for practical purposes.
