| gravity | A force that pushes objects downward |
| contact forces | a force that needs to be in contact with something |
| friction | a contact force that slows the movements of objects |
| spring balance | the equipment used to measure the newtons of a force |
| weight | is mass x gravity |
| mass | the amount of matter that is in an object |
| spring tide | the tide after a new or full moon when there is the difference between high and low water |
| Earths rotation | the rotation of earth around its own axis. |
| probe | a piece of equipment sent out in space to explore planets |
| telescope | a piece of equipment based in space or on land that magnifies objects at a great distance. |
| buoyancy | A force that acts in water and pushes objects upward |
| solar eclipse | an eclipse when the moon is in the middle of the sun and earth. |

| heliocentric model | the model of the solar systems that demonstrates the sun in the middle |
| Geocentric model | the model of the solar system that shows the earth in the middle |

| mitochondria | an organelle in plant and animal cells |
| cell wall | a layer of polysaccharides lying outside the plasma membrane |
