| Granite | A very hard, granular, crystalline, igneous rock consisting mainly of quartz, mica, and feldspar and often used as a building stone. |
| Streak | A long, thin line or mark of a different substance or colour from its surroundings. |
| Sediment | Matter that settles to the bottom of a liquid. |
| Magma | Hot fluid or semi-fluid material below or within the earth's crust from which lava and other igneous rock is formed on cooling. |
| Hydrosphere | All the waters on the earth's surface, such as lakes and seas, and sometimes including water over the earth's surface. |
| Asthenosphere | The upper layer of the earth's mantle, below the lithosphere, in which there is relatively low resistance to plastic flow and convection is thought to occur. |
| Core | The very hot, very dense center of our planet. |
| Sandstone | Sedimentary rock consisting of sand or quartz grains cemented together, typically red, yellow, or brown in colour. |
| Hardness | The quality or condition of being hard. |
| Deposition | The geological process in which sediments, soil and rocks are added to a land form or land mass. |
| Renewable | (of a natural resource or source of energy) not depleted when used. |
| Biosphere | the regions of the surface and atmosphere of the earth or another planet occupied by living organisms. |
| Crust | The outermost solid shell of a rocky planet, dwarf planet, or natural satellite. |
| Marble | A hard crystalline metamorphic form of limestone, typically white with coloured mottlings or streaks. |
| Quartz | A hard mineral consisting of silica. |
