TermDefinition
Atmosphere the envelope of gases surrounding the earth or another planet
Liphosphere the rigid outer part of the earth, consisting of the crust and upper mantle
Mantle The part of the Earth between the core and the crust
Granite a very hard, granular, crystalline, igneous rock consisting mainly of quartz, mica, and feldspar and often used as a building stone
Streak A long thin line of a different mineral/material from its surroundings
Sediment matter that settles to the bottom of a liquid
Magma Hot molten rock flowing below the crust
Hydrosphere all the waters on the earth's surface, such as lakes and seas
Asthenosphere the upper layer of the earth's mantle, below the lithosphere
Core The middle of our planet, the inner core is solid and the outer core is liquid
Sandstone sedimentary rock consisting of sand or quartz grains cemented together
Hardness the quality or condition of being hard
Deposition It is the geological process in which sediments, soil and rocks are added to a landform or land mass
Renewable Not depleted when used or able to renew
Biosphere The regions/areas of the earths surface or atmosphere where organisms live
Crust The Earths hard outer layer, makes up 1% of Earths volume
Marble a hard crystalline metamorphic form of limestone
Quartz a hard mineral consisting of silica
Geologist an expert in or student of geology
Erosion the process of eroding or being eroded by wind, water, or other natural agents
Non-Renewable finite quality, unable to be renew. Can't be reused
