| carnivore | consumers that only eat meat |
| omnivore | consumers that eat both meat and plants. |
| scavenger | consumers that eat off of dead animals |
| decompose | to break down biotic wastes and organisms and return the raw materials. |
| food chain | when one organism eats another obtains energy |
| food web | consists of many overlapping food chains in an ecosystem. |
| energy pyramid | the amount of energy that move from one feeding level to another. |
| evaporation | the process by which molecules of liquid water absorb and chges into gas. |
| precipitation | any form of water |
| condensation | when gas changes into liquid |
| nitrogen fixation | the process of changing free nitrogen as into nitrogen compounds that plants can absorb and use. |
