Procedure #30

CNA Procedure: Transfer to Stretcher/ Shower Bed

Step NumberStep
Step 1 Do initial steps.
Step 2 Loosen sheet directly under resident and roll edges close to resident.
Step 3 Place stretcher/ shower bed at bedside. Make certain wheels are locked and ensure that bed and stretcher/ shower bed are at same height.
Step 4 Staff should be present at the bedside as well as on the opposite side of. The stretched/ shower bed.
Step 5 Staff should grasp sheet on each side of resident. On the count of three, slide resident laterally onto stretcher/ shower bed.
Step 6 Center and align resident. Place pillow under their head and cover with a blanket and raise the rails of stretcher/ shower bed.
Step 7 Do final steps.
