| abiotic | non living things in an ecosystem |
| Organism | a single form of life the simplest form of organization in ecology. |
| Population | All members of one kind of organism that live in a particular area. |
| Communities | A group of different populations of organisms |
| Ecosystem | A collection of different communities and the abiotic factors. |
| biome | groups of ecosystem |
| niche | the spicific role an organisym plays in a ecosytem |
| food chain | The flow of energy from one organism to the next. |
| food web | Shows the interactions among many different food chains in a single ecosystem. |
| producer | Organism that can create its own food through the process of photosynthesis |
| consumer | Organism that feeds on other organisms or organic matter because it cannot make its own food |
| decomposer | Organisms that break down dead plants and animals into nutrients for the soil |
| Scavenger | An animal the feeds off dead or decaying matter |
