| Chemoreceptor | Chemical receptor. |
| Cochlea | Snail shaped portion of inner ear. |
| Crista Ampullaris | Receptor organ located within the ampulla of the semicircular canals. |
| General Senses | Receptors located throughout the body. |
| Lacrimal Apparatus | The structures that produce and covey tears. |
| Macula Lutea | Yellowish depression on the retina. |
| Mechanoreceptors | Sensory receptors that respond to physical manipulation of the cell. |
| Nociceptors | Pain receptors. |
| Olfaction | Sense of smell. |
| Otolihs | Little stones of calcium carbonate in the macula of the inner ear. |
| Photoreceptors | Receptors that detect light. |
| Proprioception | The sense of body position and movement. |
| Refraction | The bending of light as it passes from one medium to another. |
| Rhodopsin | Photosensitive pigment in the rods ( Visual Purple). |
| Sensory Adaptation | Receptor sensitivity decreases with prolonged stimulation. |
| Special Senses | Senses with receptors localized in an area. |
| Thermoreceptors | Receptors that detect changes in temperature. |
