TermDefinition
Hygrometer Measures humidity
Thermometer Measures air temperature in degrees Celsius or degrees Fahrenheit.
Barometer Measures air pressure.
Rain gauge Collects water and shows the amount of rainfall.
Wind Vane Points in the direction from which the wind is blowing.
Anemometer Measures wind speed. The faster the wind blows the faster the cups spin.
Air pressure Force of air pushing on an area.
Precipitation Any form of water that falls from clouds.
Humidity How much moisture is in the air.
Temperature Describes how hot or cold something is.
Troposphere Layer closest to the Earth's surface. This is where weather happens.
Atmosphere Blanket of air surrounding the Earth.
Earth's atmosphere is made out of what gasses? Oxygen, nitrogen and some other gases.
Stratosphere The layer above the troposphere but under the mesophere.
Mesophere Is the third layer from the earth. It is the layer above the stratosphere and under the thermosphere.
Thermosphere The fourth layer from the earth. It is the last layer of the atmosphere.
