Moon phases
About the phases of our outer space area
| Term | Definition |

| New moon | The phase of the moon when it is in conjunction with the sun and invisible from earth, or shortly thereafter when it appears as a slender crescent. |
| Full moon | The phase of the moon in which its whole disk is illuminated. |
| Waning | (Of the moon) have a progressively smaller part of its visible surface illuminated, so that it appears to decrease in size. |
| Waxing crescent | The definition of the waxing crescent moon is anytime after the new moon and before the full moon. After the full moon its is called a waning moon until the next new moon. |
