| Gastric Juice | Secretions of the exocrine gastric glands. |
| Gastrin | Hormone secreted by the endocrine glands in the stomach. |
| Gingiva | Gums |
| Hydrolysis | Chemical breakdown of complex molecules by the addition of water. |
| Ileocecal Valve | Valve between the small and large intestine. |
| Lower Esophageal Sphincter | Valve between the esophagus and stomach. |
| Mastication | Process of chewing. |
| Mesentery | Extensions of peritoneum that are associated with the intestine. |
| Palate | Roof of the mouth. |
| Peristalsis | Rhythmic contractions of the intestines that move food along the digestive tract. |
| Plicae Circulares | Circular folds in the mucosa and submucosa of the small intestine. |
| Pyloric Sphincter | Valve between the stomach and the first part of the small intestine. |
| Rugae | Longitudinal folds in the mucosa of the stomach. |
| Teniae Coli | Bands of longitudinal muscle fibers in the large intestine |
