What do the offspring of parents look like in asexual reproduction? Exact copies (clones).
How many cells are produced from meiosis? 4 (n) haploid cells.
DNA is replicated how many times in meiosis? Twice.
Which Mendelian law states that each pair of alleles separates independently of each other in gamete formation? The Law of Independent Assortment.
What does an organism's genotype tell about them? Their genetic makeup, or set of alleles, they have.
In the Rule of Addition, what must all of the probable outcomes add up to? One.
Heart disease, diabetes, cancer and alcoholism are all examples of what? Multifactorial disorders.
What is the purpose of a test cross? To determine the unknown genotype of an organism.
What is incomplete dominance? When phenotypes of heterozygotes are intermediate between the phenotypes of indivuals homozygous for either allele. (Red and white flowers cross to make pink.)
What two things have an effect on phenotype? The environment and genotype.
A pedigree would show a family what? The occurence of heritable characters in parents and offspring over multiple generations.
Where are sex-linked genes located? On sex chromosomes (usually on the X).
Deletions, duplications, inversions, and translocations are all ways to do what? Change the structure of chromosomes.
Hemophilia is what type of trait? A sex-linked trait.
What is nondisjunction? An error in meiosis or mitosis where a pair of sister chromatids fail to separate properly.
